Steven Owen Buckner of Apache, Oklahoma was born August 29, 1975 to Robert E. and D. Loretta (Comanche) Buckner. He passed away in Lawton, OK on July 31st at the age of 36.

Steven Buckner graduated from Apache High School. He married Shannon Lynn WhiteEagle on February 9, 2007 in Anadarko, OK. A member of the Fort Sill-Apache Tribe, he was actively involved with his tribe and served as the Higher Education Director and the housing chairman.

Steven was a sports fan, his favorite football team was the Dallas Cowboys. He also enjoyed watching his children play sports and being a part of their everyday lives. He coached for both softball and baseball summer leagues. He also liked to fish in his spare time, and enjoyed making people laugh when he could.

His wife, Shannon, of the home, 2 daughters, of the home- Emily Buckner and Haylee Buckner, and 1 son of the home, Champ Buckner.

His parents, Robert and Loretta Buckner Apache, OK, 5 brothers- Robert and wife, Lori Buckner Chickasha, OK Larry and wife, Karen Buckner Plano, TX Max and wife, Linda Buckner Arkansas Jack Buckner Chickasha, OK James Buckner Apache, OK, 2 sisters- LaTisha and husband, Steve Garrett Lawton, OK Hilary Shanabarger Lawton, OK. A foster brother and sister- Henry Kaulaity, Lucille Olivates, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by:

His great-grandparents- Lawrence and Dolly Mithlo, and Grandparents- Vernon and Elizabeth Buckner Garnett Mithlo.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, August 4, at 1:00 P.M. at the Ft. Sill Apache Tribal Complex with Pastor Wayne Townsend officiating. Burial will follow at the Ft. Sill Apache Cemetery on Ft. Sill.
